Someone Get This, Before We Do #2
Can your inbox handle this bulging vintage newsletter? Plus, our top 10 winter investment coats.
Since there’s no better way to spend a Sunday lounging on the couch or thrifting, we’ve combined the best of both worlds just for you. So sit back, relax, and enjoy.
Quick housekeeping note: If you missed it or are new here, you can now upgrade to our paid newsletter. By upgrading, you'll (1) support our work, (2) receive two newsletters each month—though this month, we’re treating paid subscribers to four, including a special handpicked selection of the best pre-loved and vintage finds—and (3) gain access to The Ceiling Substack group chat, where we’ll share even more vintage treasures and content.
But first things first: temperatures have dropped, and the hunt for a warm coat that can stand the test of time is on. We’ve got you covered with a list to ensure you won’t be left out in the cold for seasons to come.
Our Top 10 Investment Coats
Khaite Bontin coat (in black here, both on sale): this ultimate long gray dream coat has had us drooling for over a year now.
Toteme Oversized shearling coat (also in all black, pre-loved black here, pre-loved long version here): we broke down the success of this stunner in a previous newsletter, and nothing has changed since—it’s still a must-have .
Saks Potts Ada Jacket: also on our list last winter, this is a great and unique addition to your casual winter wardrobe.
Saks Potts Bon Jacket: all we want to wear right now. (You might also want to check out this vintage Miu Miu coat.)
Miu Miu Double-breasted wool and cashmere coat (in camel here): an investment, yes, but can you name anything that wouldn’t look good with this coat?
Filippa K double breasted brushed wool coat in gray or light brown: an updated version of last winter's hit. It’s a fantastic quality piece, especially for those on the taller side.
Tove Ondine wool-blend coat or Toteme Annecy coat (pre-loved in camel here and here, in gray two-tone here, and in black here): a classic that will elevate your quick sweatpants grocery store run into a million-dollar look.
Magda Butrym Ribbed-knit wool and alpaca jacket: ‘cool’ is the word here.
Toteme Double-breasted wool-blend coat (pre-loved here): we can’t imagine a time when this coat won’t be stylish.
Ann Demeulemeester Ilva double-breasted high-comfort coat: this coat is like a piece of art and will carry you through winter for years to come.
With two feet still in fall, we’re highlighting these coat favorites: Toteme Corduroy-trimmed waxed organic cotton coat, Toteme Country jacket, Hermès Vintage quilted short coat and the Marie Adam-Leendaerdt Beige pinched trench coat.

Going Extreme on Cashmere
Since it’s officially sweater weather, we’re knee-deep in sweater research—or anything cozy, for that matter—resulting in endless pre-loved cashmere finds. One standout is Extreme Cashmere, a fabulous Dutch brand celebrated for its luxurious, inclusive, and seasonless pieces. They’re truly unparalleled, though they can take a toll on your bank account. But don’t worry—we’ve got plenty of pre-loved options.
Both great for layering are this Extreme Cashmere light gray cashmere body, and this halter top. We can not go without this cardigan, but if you're seriously considering investing in a winter sweater, this heavy roll neck is the one for you (the wool and cashmere versions from The Row and Soft Goat look equally comfy). We’re also intrigued by the silhouette of this men’s-inspired vest with zipper and Maison Margiela gilet vest. And how chic are these gray and off-white balaclavas?

Polos are a great option for (cashmere) layering. Check out our favorite Saks Potts Serena polo, pre-loved in white, available here and here. Additionally, this oversized striped Maison Margiela shirt is perfect for layering as well.
These Christian Dior Vintage leopard print stockings are pretty cool (remember that iconic Chloë Sevigny image from our previous newsletter?). We can totally see this Balenciaga XL leopard bag paired with one of those long gray winter coats we just mentioned—perfect for carrying your entire life.
This Hermès vintage silk brown and black blazer is both unique and chic—pair it with jeans and these low-heeled Maison Margiela beige pumps or these perfect pre-loved Tod’s loafers or slippers. Also in our shopping cart is this Dries van Noten Extra-long belt, which will make any trousers, jeans, or skirt look effortlessly cool, along with this Alaïa Vintage black leather rectangular bag and a Ferragamo Vintage leather sweatshirt. And seriously, how is this amazing Alaïa Eyelet belt still here?
